Accra Open is the premier open debate championship in West Africa. Established in 2015 by Speech Forces Organization to encourage a culture of critical thinking and expression in Africa, the championship has grown to be the most competitive and one of the biggest on the continent. Some 850 debaters from 54 universities, representing 20 different countries (including Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa etc. ) have taken part in the past.
The championship is known for its world class organization, quality of debates, and afro-centric networking opportunities for young Africans.
The 8th edition will be held at the University of Ghana campus, Accra from 15th to 20th June this year.

Participation
- The championship is open to everyone above 16 years old.
- A non – refundable fee of $50 / GHS 320 per participant (covers accommodation for 5 nights, breakfast for 4 days, all social events, awards and tournament participation fee) is required ahead of the championship.

- Phase 1 (Application): 4th April – 27th April 2022

During this stage, participants are required to complete the registration form for the competition.

- Phase 2 (Payment): 1st May – 30th May 2022

Payment of at least 60% of registration fee is required by the end of this phase.
Any new registration at this stage will attract 10% extra on the registration fee.
